Welcome
We aim to bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers on the governance of shared resources in Africa. A web conference is more inclusive, has lower costs, and a smaller carbon footprint than traditional meetings. With this web conference, we hope to get broad exposure to the research done in Africa by African scholars and scholars abroad. The discourse during the conference seeks to improve governance and management of shared resources and create sustainable solutions for commons, common-pool resources, or any other form of shared resources.
In a world dominated by multiple crises, from pandemics and climate change to economic depression and political polarization, it is essential to keep a constructive fact-based conversation going. This conference provides a platform for scholars and practitioners to discuss the future of African commons.
Presentations and panels are in English or French. The conference is spread out over a 2-week period providing enough time to engage with prerecorded videos and participate in selected live streaming events.
The conference is free to attend, but if you want to give a presentation or comment on presentations you need to be an IASC member. Limited resources are available to sponsor memberships of African participants who give presentations. We also appreciate contributions to the Esther Mwangi memorial scholarship fund to support African scholars on their actionable research on the commons.
No hassle, costs, or carbon emissions from traveling. Attend the entire conference safely from home.
Watch video presentations and comment at your pace. Seven live events spread over the 2-week period.
Interact with your peers during networking events (English and French).
